CMHA Midyear Meeting Daily Recap: Day 2

Another day is in the books! Today marked a pivotal day for the 2025 Midyear Meeting as multiple committees and subcommittees gathered to align on strategy, share progress, and chart the future of the industry’s technical education, sustainability goals and contractor engagement.

Passionate discussion across all groups made it clear that the association is focused on strengthening its identity, embracing innovation, and elevating the value it brings to members and the broader construction community.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Awards Luncheon and General Session — This year, we had the absolute pleasure of inducting not one, but two new members — and industry pillars — into the CMHA Hall of Fame: Charlie McGrath and Dr. Ettore “Ed” Fioroni. Charlie for his visionary leadership, legacy of strengthening industry collaboration and expanding training programs, and decades of service guiding the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI) — eventually helping unify it into the CMHA. Ed, for his unmatched passion, mentorship, and dedication to education and communication, leadership on ICPI and CMHA boards and genuine friendships he fostered throughout the industry. Their stories remind us that leadership, vision and personal connections are the cornerstones of lasting impact.
  • Digital Education — From modular training to carbon calculators, CMHA is looking into investing in accessible, data-driven resources for both producers and end-users.
  • Member Value and Visibility — Reinforcing the value of CMHA membership was a top priority, with an interactive brainstorm session taking place at the Concrete Masonry Checkoff Marketing Session.
  • Sustainability Research — CMHA is leading helping lead the charge on environmental accountability with new carbon models, regional EPD discussions and standardized assumptions for LCA tools.
  • Technical Excellence — CMHA is also working to future-proof masonry through robust standards, including new mortar and ballistic testing initiatives.
  • Group Gatherings & Networking — We rounded out the day with three fun social events including the Block & Paver PAC Reception, Concrete Women Connect Dessert Reception, and Contractor Meet Up. These were great opportunities for members to connect and celebrate the progress being made in our industry.

LOOKING AHEAD

From foundational standards to creative outreach, this day marked meaningful progress and a renewed commitment to building what’s next. And, speaking of what’s next, members have a lot to look forward to tomorrow, starting with Sunrise Yoga. Tomorrow also brings our inaugural CMHA Midyear Meeting Golf Tournament at Tiburón Golf Club where participants will compete for the coveted Golden Golfer title. Then, later that evening, we will all hit the beach for our Night Out Naples Beach Party, sponsored by CMHA’s Associate Members.

Stay tuned for more updates and event highlights throughout the week!
