He is also survived by his brothers, Randy Taylor (Leslie) and Terry Taylor; his sister, Kristy Eller (John); his grandchildren, Caleb Hancock, Wes Rhodes, Kel Hancock, Mariah Johnson (Jon), Scott (Lynette), Rachael, and Amanda Semenek; his bonus family, Denise, Jeremy, Travis, and Reed Schneider; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Chuck began his career working alongside his father at Ornamental Iron Works. Over the years, he worked with Marhoffer of Muncie, Mofab in Anderson, LPS Pavement Company, Decorative Paving, Aqua-Paving, and Oldcastle APG. He was actively involved in numerous professional and community organizations, including Muncie on the Move, the Muncie Home Builders Association, and Ornamental Iron Works. Chuck proudly helped cofound Muncie on the Move, a business breakfast series created to provide networking opportunities and keep professionals informed about developments in the Greater Muncie community. The program continues today, more than 35 years later, as a testament to his vision and leadership. He also served on the board of the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI), where he held the role of Construction Committee Chair. While in this role he helped establish the Installer Championship competition, PICP Installer Course and contributed to numerous segmental pavement technical documents.
With more than 35 years in the paving and construction industry, Chuck became a respected mentor to many and was honored with the ICPI Lifetime Achievement Award. During his time at Oldcastle APG, he received additional recognition for his leadership and contributions. He also helped establish “Chuck Taylor University,” a training program designed to educate and mentor others in the industry.
Chuck was an avid sports fan who enjoyed a good cigar and a shot of bourbon on his patio, where he loved feeding the birds and watching for hummingbirds. He loved to travel and looked forward to visiting St. Martin every year, his home away from home.
For over 15 years, Chuck bravely battled Parkinson’s disease. From the moment of his diagnosis, he embraced the mantra, “Keep Moving Forward, Never Look Back.” He lived these words each day, facing every challenge with unwavering positivity, determination, and strength. He dedicated 10 years to supporting the Breaking Parkinson’s Golf Outing, helping raise awareness and funds in the fight against the disease.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or a charity of your choice in Chuck’s honor.
